ABC, ACC Announces Dr. Dennis Narcisse as 2023 ACC/ABC Merck Research Fellowship Award Recipient

Dennis Narcisse, MD, MS, an ABC Member and Cardiovascular Disease Fellow at Duke University Medical Center in Durham, NC, was among the three awardees chosen to receive the 2023 American College of Cardiology (ACC)/Association of Black Cardiologists (ABC) Merck Research Fellowship Award.

The ACC/ABC Merck Research Fellowships provide three one-year fellowships in the amount of $100,000 each, awarded as salary support for a year of research in adult cardiology. These fellowships equip up-and-coming cardiovascular investigators with the resources they need to further cardiology in their communities through the pursuit of innovative research ideas.

The ACC/ABC Merck Research Fellowship Award was launched in 2021 as part of the Association’s workforce diversity efforts. As part of the partnership, the research opportunity was expanded to a third award, exclusively given to a current member of ABC and with preference to applicants focused on disparities of care.

Dr Narcisse joins the five ABC member clinicians who have been awarded this distinguished fellowship over the last 3 years. The 2023 awardees will be recognized during Convocation at ACC.24, held April 6-8 in Atlanta, GA, alongside other awardees and honorees of the College.
